The dance piece The Past, choreographed by Vladyslav Detiuchenko, will be presented as part of the Ukrainian International Ballet’s Past | Present | Future program. It explores the dynamic intersection of two creative philosophies — the Dutch artist Piet Mondrian and the Ukrainian artist Aleksandra Exter.

Vladyslav creates a dance piece in which the dancers’ bodies, movements, and inner essence unite these two poles, thereby forging a third pole with its own identity. Can a line be not only a form but also an impulse? Can a plane breathe, transform, and provoke movement? Is order merely an illusion that the body seeks to shatter?
